The selected first residents will start their residency on July 1, 2024. Project Vida also announced a $650,000 grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services for renovations to the clinic and more staff additions to the residency program.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Project Vida Health Center recognized their first resident students to their community-based psychiatry residency program.

The program aims to train the next generations of psychiatrists to address mental health challenges in underserved communities, according to the health center.

The selected first residents will start their residency on July 1, 2024:

“We are thrilled to welcome three exceptional physicians to our program. Their passion for medicine, dedication to patient care and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our program’s values,” Psychiatry Residency Program Director Dr. Cynthai Garza said.

Project Vida is also announcing that their northeast health center has received a $650,000 grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The funding will be used for renovations to the clinic and add more staff to the residency program.
