Wainwright Park El Paso Gets Shade, Playground Upgrades
Wainwright Park just leveled up with new shade, landscaping and playground touches, courtesy of a federal grant. Wainwright Park in El Paso, Texas, has undergone extensive improvements, including more shade, new landscaping and additions to the playground. The improvements were funded through a Community Development Block Grant, a federal program used to fund neighborhood-level projects. However, a review led the El Paso City Council to remove a prior task-order award for the project, which had been estimated at $721,242.31. The project was reissued for bid after CDBG timing affected capacity. Wainwright's improvements are part of a wider effort across Texas to make public parks more pleasant in the heat.
