El Paso kids can learn aerial, dance, sports at summer camps 2024

Here's a list of summer camps 2024 in El Paso to keep kids busy and having fun. El Paso area kids are becoming more excited about summer activities, with many parents looking to keep their children busy. Summer camps will include aerial, dance, and sports activities for kids ages 6-8 and 9-12. The El Paso Museum of Art will offer classes for youths ages 6 to 13, with classes combining exploration of galleries and making art in the studio. Spanish language camps will be held for ages 5-8, 9-21, while Spanish language activities include coloring, arts and crafts, fun games and dance. The city's Parks and Recreation Department will offer summer camps for youth ages 5 to 12, with a Teen Leaders option for ages 13 to 16.

El Paso area kids are starting to dream about summer, or at least look forward to the last day of school.

This means parents need to start looking at ways to keep them busy for the next few weeks.

Are grandparents going to help? Are they going to go to a daycare? Or maybe you want to put them into day camps so they can learn something new and make friends.

Here are some great ideas for keeping your kids busy this summer, from honing their art and sports skills to learning how to swim.

Kids will learn fun aerial skills at Circus Camp, by On Edge Aerial Dance, at 11444 Rojas Drive, Suite C-5. The camp is for kids ages 6-8 and 9-12.

The camps will include aerial dance on silks, hoops, trapeze, hammocks and more. Camp dates are Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21; Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28; Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12; Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19. The El Paso Museum of Art, 1 Arts Festival Plaza, has a variety of classes for youths ages 6-13. Classes combine exploration of galleries and making art in the studio. Tuition includes all materials. Language Plus will have Spanish language camps from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 10-21, at 1301 N. Oregon St. The camps are for ages 5-8 and 9-12.

Activities will include coloring, arts and crafts, fun games and dance, all while practicing Spanish. Information: 915-544-8600.

Parents can register their children for the Kids Summer Camp at the Rio Vista Community Center, 901 N. Rio Vista Road, starting May 27. In-person registration only, limited capacity.

The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, through Thursday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 11, through Thursday, June 13. The camps will include art and outdoor activities and movies. A light lunch will be provided. It is free. Information: 915-860-8615.

Sun City Swim will offer swim lessons for all ages, from 12 months on up, in private or group sessions. Private sessions and four lessons start at $100 and $240 for three swimmers.

Sunny Learning Center to have camps on Westside

The Sunny Learning Center will have a Kids Summer Camp for kids ages 4-10 at 5747 Montoya Drive. The camps will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 3-28, and July 1-26.

The camps include outdoor games, art, horseback riding, and field trips. The cost is $150 weekly and $500 monthly. To register, call 915-500-9438.

Eastwood High School will have a Barbie Cheer Camp from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, through Thursday, June 20, at the Eastwood High competition gym.

The cost is $45 and includes a T-shirt. The camp will include dress-up days. Information: [email protected]

El Dorado High School will offer a youth football camp at the school's football field from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, through Wednesday, June 5. The camp is for students from third grade to incoming freshmen. Registration is online.

Parkland High School will offer a Skills and Drills basketball camp from 8:30 to 11 a.m. June 24-26.

The camp is for students from third grade to incoming freshmen. The camp fee is $30, which includes a T-shirt. For information, contact Coach V. Morua at 915-308-1141.

Premier Studios will have summer camps for ages 5 and above at 12305 Mercantile Ave., Ste. D. The camps include Parkour Ninja, tumbling, and dance. Camps start in June and range from $60 to $90.

The city's Parks and Recreation Department will offer Club Rec Summer Camp.

Parents are encouraged to register their children in the program open to youth ages 6 to 12, with a Teen Leaders option for youth ages 13 to 16. The cost is $40 weekly per child, or $20 weekly per youth, for the Teen Leaders Program. Parents can apply for youth scholarships to help offset costs.

"Club Rec offers a safe and fun environment for children during the summer," said Parks and Recreation Director Pablo Caballero in an email. "Not only does the program offer fun activities, but it strengthens social skills and emphasizes physical health, stress reduction, and productive use of leisure time."

The recreation and community centers that will provide Club Rec Summer Camps:

The Doña Ana Arts Council is planning in-person children's summer camps. The Children's Missoula Theatre camp for first through 12th grade will be Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 15. Career Art Path, for grades 6-8, from Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28.

The camps will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 230 S. Water St. in Las Cruces. Tuition will be $100 per student for the Career Art Path week. Participants will explore art-related careers through hands-on activities, and speakers. Registration deadline is June 11.

The theater camp will be working on a production of "Treasure Island." Tuition will be $70 per student. Students must pre-register by June 1. The cast will be comprised of 16 students entering first grade to age seven and 44 students ages 8-18.
