EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Dona Ana County is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify a person of interest in a shooting that resulted in the death of a man at a home on Graham Street on Thursday, Feb. 15, according to the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD).

LCPD says that in the early morning of Thursday, Feb. 15, the person of interest arrived at the home located at the 900 block of Graham Street as the passenger of a dark blue Cadilac.

The driver of the Cadilac was 29-year-old Jose “Joey” Antonio Juarez III, according to LCPD.

LCPD says investigators learned that Juarez and the person of interest got into some “type of altercation” with a 34-year-old man who was at the home.

During the altercation, at least one round was discharged, striking Juarez who died from his injuries at the scene, according to LCPD.

LCPD says that the person of interest fled from the scene on foot. A surveillance camera captured an image of him.

The 34-year-old man also left the home and went to MountainView Regional Medical Center with an injury that was not life-threatening, according to LCPD.

“Since they arrived at the home together, it’s presumed that Juarez and the person of interest were friends,” said LCPD.

Anyone with information that can help identify the person of interest is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Dona Ana County.

Crime Stoppers allows tips to be provided anonymously.

Anyone with information that can help in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.
