An El Paso County Commissioner commented about the massive fire that burned in south-central El Paso over a week ago.

County commissioner David Stout, who represents the area where the fires took place, said that within city limits the county has little jurisdiction.

"Well, you know, it's very worrisome for me as well The county does not have really any legal jurisdiction To regulate what's going on inside the city limits," he said.

"But you know, we're gonna do what we can at my office and at the county to Use whatever powers we have to address it and navigate especially with These you know these other entities," Stout said.

Stout said in January the county will be exploring legislative pathways to gain regulatory powers to handle fires like the one at the PCM recycling plant which required more than 200 firefighters.
