Minors: Clay Dungan a hit so far with El Paso Chihuahuas
Selected in minor league phase of Rule 5 draft, Clay Dungan hits two three-run homers for El Paso on Wednesday Second baseman Clay Dungan has been performing well with his Triple-A debut with the El Paso Chihuahuas, leading them to an 11-8 win over Round Rock. Dungan, who was the Royals' ninth-round pick in 2019 out of Indiana State, is 7-for-20 with 10 RBIs through his first five games in the Padres system. His three-run homer on Wednesday marked the first of the year for the 27-year-old Dungan. The Padres selected Dungan in the Triple A phase of the Rule 5 draft in December, and he hit a combined score of 1.5 on his second homer and 1.227 on his first two games.

The jury is still out the Padres’ big-league Rule 5 addition.
The Triple-A pick-up is doing just fine.

The blasts were the first of the year for the 27-year-old-Dungan. He is 7-for-20 with 10 RBIs through his first five games in the Padres system.
Dungan was the Royals’ ninth-round pick in 2019 out of Indiana State. He hit .273/.386/.365 with three homers and 16 steals in 89 games last year at Triple-A El Paso.
Dungan hit .365/.417/.727 with one homer in 11 games in Cactus League action after the Padres selected him in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft in December.
Outfielder Oscar Mercado (1.085 OPS) drove in two runs on his second homer.
Catcher Brett Sullivan (1.227 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Right-hander Nolan Watson (2-0, 6.30 ERA) allowed five runs over five innings in the win.
