The War Eagles Air Museum kicked off Easter-related activities March 23 with its third annual Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza. More than 15,000 Easter eggs were hidden around the museum hangar.

The Easter Bunny arrived by helicopter and posed with families for a professional keepsake. Each family received a printout.

This weekend, the fun continues with big events like the El Paso Zoo's EggstravanganZoo on Saturday and Sunday, and the 46th NorthEaster Parade on Saturday in Northeast El Paso.

The Easter Bunny will be the main star of the parade, which starts at 10 a.m. This year, the theme will be Barbie, so expect a lot of pink.

The parade starts on Diana Drive and proceeds for about a mile. It is a community parade with nonprofit organizations, youth organizations and other units.

Enjoy Easter gatherings at parks but pick up trash

El Paso Parks and Recreation staff want to remind the public to help maintain the parks as they prepare for large family gatherings. The city of El Paso has more than 300 parks.

In previous years, the Parks and Maintenance departments have taken three to four days to remove trash left behind by users on Easter Sunday. To keep parks clean, additional trash bins will be placed at city parks, and additional staff will work through the weekend.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their trash bags and pick up after their Easter activities.

Confetti-filled eggs are not restricted, but city officials said the public should consider an alternative because the confetti is very difficult to clean up.

"If the public does bring confetti-filled eggs, we ask that they please clean up after themselves," stated a city press release.

Pets are welcome at city parks, but pet owners are reminded to pick up pet waste and keep pets on a leash.
