Winter weather advisory issued for West Texas, Southern New Mexico
Snow is possible in El Paso on Monday, Dec. 29 as a strong cold front brings chilly temperatures to the region, the National Weather Service said. A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of West Texas and Southern New Mexico, due to a strong cold front bringing scattered rain and possible snow showers. El Paso was initially part of the advisory but was removed from it along with Hudspeth County early Monday morning. Some parts of New Mexico are under a winter storm warning. The National Weather Service expects less than an inch of snow to fall in El Paso and Las Cruces, while the Sacramento Mountains may see up to seven inches. AAA has issued safety tips for drivers in snow, including increasing following distance to five to six seconds and keeping tires inflated.
