El Paso County school districts considering new online schools
If approved by the state, D-38 would welcome Williamsburg Academy Colorado, while D-49 would develop and open the V.I.S.T.A. and Falcon Flex Academies. The school boards for Lewis-Palmer District 38 and District 49 in El Paso County have approved the advancement of new potential multi-district online schools (MDOL) if approved by the Colorado Department of Education. If approved, D-38 would add Williamsburg Academy Colorado to its portfolio, while D-49 would develop and open the V.I.S.T.A. and Falcon Flex Academies. These schools would provide students in grades 6-12 with face-to-face interactions and programs that have previously lacked. D-39 Superintendent Amber Whetine stressed that the new models will dominate high school education in the coming years. The V.T.-A. Flex Academy would primarily serve students in D-48’s POWER Zone, while Falcon Flex Academy will be intended for Falcon Zone students.
