UNM adds Master of Social Work
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico is welcoming its first cohort for a new degree in spring 2027. The Master’s of Social Work, housed in the School of Medicine Department… The University of New Mexico is adding the Master's of Social Work to its existing two-year program, housed in the School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The first class of 20 students will consist of students who can choose between concentrations in clinical or medical work, and the medical social work concentration is the first of its kind to be offered in the state. The program also includes a one-year option for those who have completed their bachelor's in social work in the last five years. The inaugural cohort will begin with a semester of coursework before focusing on practical experience in the summer and fall.
